Friendly Frenchy is a French brand launched in 2017 and specialized in made in France products which are from natural resources, recyclable and innovative.
Inspired by the coastline, the latest project of the designers aims to create sunglasses from seashells. As they identify themselves as eco-friendly, it was important for the designers, through these sunglasses, to respect the environment and the French know-how.
In order to make their project successful, they turned to NaturePlast, a company expert in bioplastics to help them select and develop the most suitable material for their technical specification. The first step was to identify and select the best 100% biobased plastic matrix in terms of mechanical and shelf-life performances.
The most interesting by-products in terms of availability and facility to process were first sought and studied. This research has led to the selection of waste from mussels, oysters and scallop seashells. Following the by-product screening, several formulations, mixing sea by-products and biobased plastics were developed, produced and validated. Thanks to its R&D expertise, NaturePlast was able to process and select the most relevant formulations to industrialized.
Friendly Frenchy has launched on the 11th April 2018, and until the 16th may 2018, a Ulule participatory campaign to help funding its made in France sunglasses project, produced from seashells.
