FIBRES: TEXTILES AND NON-WOVEN MATERIALS
The textile and non-woven fibre markets have always been a driving force for bioplastic materials.
There are several biobased Polyesters (PLA, PHA, PET, PTT, etc.) and biobased Polyamides (PA 11, PA10-10, etc.) that can easily replace synthetic fibres used in clothing or other applications (carpets, etc.).
The manufacturing of clothing or even decorative textiles in automobiles uses non-biodegradable versions (biobased PET, PE, PTT), while disposable applications (non-woven bags, wipes, etc.) use biodegradable and compostable polymers in order to optimise the end-of-life.
