The medical products market is a niche for bioplastics.

While specific materials are compatible with the human body for dissolvable applications like implants or dissolvable suture threads (PLA or PHA), some grades of bioplastic can also be used for producing packaging or medical devices.

In these cases, biobased and non-biodegradable versions are preferred, such as biobased PE, which is used to make certain products which are certified for this sector of applications.
