BIOMAR
Development of BIOdegradable materials in the MARine environment for devices intended to be dropped at sea and not recovered.
OBJECTIVES
The BioMar project aims to find an innovative solution with reduced environmental impact with paradoxical specifications: guarantee functionality over a long period of time under variable aging conditions (variation in temperature, brightness, humidity), without impacting biodegradability in the marine environment.
In order to respond to this problem, the consortium will work simultaneously on three paths:
Implementation of measurement protocols aimed at simulating storage and not only aging in external use. These innovative protocols will then be used on the formulations developed during the project.
Improvement of the materials properties, mainly by additives, to preserve the characteristics of a biodegradable product over long periods of time before use.
Measurement of the impact of improved durability on biodegradation in the marine environment, through the use of orientation tests aimed at evaluating the kinetics of biodegradation.
