TRANSPORT

By adopting bioplastics, the transport sector combines innovation and performance, meeting both the technical challenges and environmental requirements of tomorrow’s mobility.

In the transport sector, bioplastics have a wide range of applications, from interior vehicle components (dashboards, seats, panels) to exterior elements and packaging solutions for logistics.

Their light weight, combined with their strength, makes them a strategic choice for reducing vehicle weight, helping to cut energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

ADVANTAGES

  • Compatible with existing processes
  • Resistance and durability
  • Mostly biobased
  • Potential improvement in environmental footprint
  • Unique design incorporating by-products

There are three main application sectors:

  • Flexible foams for seating in biobased PUR.
  • Injection-molded parts can be made from biobased polymers such as polyamides (fuel lines, undercaps), polycarbonates (optics) or biocomposites using wood, flax or hemp fibers for structural or decorative elements.
  • Decorative textile fibers (seats, door panels, etc.) in biobased PET, PLA or Sorona fiber (PTT).
