Friendly Frenchy is a French brand launched in 2017 specializing in made-in-France products crafted from natural, recycled and innovative materials.
Inspired by the coastline, the latest project from the brand’s designers involves the creation of sunglasses made from shells. Adopting an “eco-friendly” approach, the designers have chosen, through the manufacture of these glasses, to respect both the environment and French know-how.
To realize their project, they turned to NaturePlast, experts in bioplastics, to help them select and develop the material best suited to their specifications. The first step was to identify and select the most appropriate 100% biosourced bioplastic matrix in terms of mechanical performance and service life.
After a search for the most interesting by-product sources, particularly in terms of availability and ease of processing, waste from mussel, oyster and scallop shells was selected. Several formulations mixing marine by-products and biobased plastics were developed, produced and validated. Thanks to its R&D know-how, NaturePlast was able to implement and select the most appropriate formulations to enable industrialization of the project.
Friendly Frenchy has thus launched on April 11, 2018, and until May 16, 2018, an Ulule participatory campaign in order to finance its project of sunglasses made in France, made from shells.
