After three years, the European DiMAT (Digital Modelling and Simulation for Design, Processing and Manufacturing of Advanced Materials) project is coming to an end.
Launched in 2023 as part of the Horizon Europe program and co-funded by the European Union, the aim of this project was to develop digital modeling and simulation tools to support every stage of the materials value chain: from design to processing and production.
DiMAT’s main objective was to provide software capable of analyzing test data, simulating material behavior and facilitating industrial decision-making. These tools help to increase the quality, durability, efficiency and competitiveness of materials.
The role of NaturePlast
NaturePlast is a partner in the DiMAT project as part of an industrial pilot dedicated to polymer compounds for the manufacture of nets (fishing, agriculture, construction).
NaturePlast has used the digital tools developed within the project to define new formulations more efficiently and adjust production parameters.
The aim was to improve the material development phases by relying more on the analysis and simulation of test data.
This approach enables :
- Reduce development times
- Limit the number of tests
- Control costs
- And reduce the environmental footprint associated with test phases
This work is part of a process of continuous optimization of NaturePlast’s R&D methods.
Concrete results for industry
At the end of the project, DiMAT offers operational and tested digital tools, which can now be integrated into the R&D processes of SMEs. Podcasts and videos illustrating the use of these tools can be found on the https://dimat-project.eu/ website.
For NaturePlast, the project has enabled us to identify methods for better storing, visualizing and reusing internal data. Better capitalization on tests carried out enables future developments to be optimized.
DiMAT provides concrete support for a company’s digitalization strategy, providing best practices and tools for deploying digital solutions tailored to the needs of an SME.
