NPHT: a biobased range designed for high temperatures
PLA is one of the most widely used bioplastics on the market. However, it has one major limitation: its low heat resistance. From 60°C, this polymer begins to soften, making it unsuitable for applications in contact with hot liquids or exposed to thermal stress.
To meet this need, NaturePlast and its R&D laboratory BiopolyNov have developed the NPHT (NaturePlast High Temperature) range, a high-performance biobased solution designed to offer improved thermal resistance while retaining the environmental properties of PLA.
Why choose NPHT?
NPHT formulations are based on blends of PLA with other polymers and specific additives. They enable :
- Increased resistance to high temperatures,
- High biobased content (>80%),
- Maintained biodegradability,
- Food contact compatibility.
Target applications :
The NPHT range is particularly suited to sectors where temperature is a critical factor:
- Compostable food packaging,
- Reusable cups,
- Containers for hot liquids,
- Products for technical use subject to thermal stress.
Already used in several industrial projects, this range offers a concrete alternative to traditional plastics in moderate to high temperature applications.
