Starch bases are compounds whose main matrix is one or more biopolyesters mixed with starch (plasticized or not).
The incorporation rate of starch is generally between 30% and 50%, depending on the formulation. The appeal of these materials lies in the combination of the good mechanical and processing properties of polyesters, with the increased biobased content and possible acceleration of biodegradation conferred by starch.
This type of material is widely used on the market for extrusion applications (film, bags, etc.), and now also for injection or thermoforming.
