MYPACK

MYPACK BRINGS SOLUTIONS TO THE FOOD PACKAGING

NaturePlast participates at the European project MYPACK! This innovative project supported by HORIZON 2020 (call SFS-2016-2017) about new innovative solutions for sustainable food packaging has officially started the 1st of November 2017 and will last 42 months.

MYPACK general objective is to help sustainable food packaging technologies to reach or to extend their market.

MYPACK must provide general guidelines to select the best market for a new technology and to ensure the best commercial development, through

  • The best environmental efficiency (direct impacts of packaging, food waste impacts, optimized recycling composting combusting end life, preserved consumer health)
  • The best consumer acceptability
  • An optimized industrial feasibility.

MYPACK

7 innovative sustainable food packaging solutions are considered, 5 of which will be developed and exploited.

Coordinated by ACTIA, The MYPACK consortium is composed of 18 partners (French, Italian, Dutch, German, Swiss and Greek) from the academic, scientific and industrial sectors, including SMEs working in close collaboration and synergy.

NATUREPLAST IN MYPACK

In this project, the role of NaturePlast is to develop, adapt and provide biobased and biodegradable compounds to the packaging producers partners. They will then transform it according to the technical requirements previously defined. NaturePlast has targeted two families of materials developed together with its own R&D laboratory BiopolyNov: a soften PLA (range NP SF) and a heat resistant PLA (range NP HT).

These two materials were elaborated in order to improve some properties which limit the use of PLA for some applications. Indeed, the production of PLA film by blowing extrusion is sensitive due to its lack of adapted mechanical and rheological properties. Its low temperature resistance (around 55°C) is also an obstacle to its use for thermal constraining applications.

For NaturePlast, working with partners from different countries and business areas is an excellent opportunity to share and enrich its knowledge and network.
