Objectives
The MATADORE project aims to develop materials with controlled biodegradation profiles for applications in a wide range of sectors. The innovative nature of the project is based on the use of two complementary approaches:
– Controlled biodegradation through formulation of biodegradable raw materials
– Programmed biodegradation by incorporating material-specific decomposition gas pedals.
The project features two major innovations: development of totally biodegradable materials with isoproperties, and choice of biodegradation profile/kinetics with adjustable degradation time. The aim is to design products with very short (days) to long (months/years) lifetimes for civil (pyrotechnics, snow flares, etc.) and military (hulls, cases, covers, etc.) applications.
Natureplast intervention
NaturePlast initiated the MATADORE project and has been coordinating it since it began in 2015.
NaturePlast is in charge of defining biodegradable raw material formulations, their production by compounding and their characterization.
