REPLAY

Study of the mechanical recycling of materials incorporating regional by-products.

Objectives

Against a backdrop of diversification of the resources needed to design new materials, and with a view to local and sustainable development, NaturePlast has been working for several years on new bioplastics made from agri-food and industrial waste or by-products (cereals, shellfish, etc.), notably from the Normandy region.

Following numerous customer feedbacks and in order to comply with European directives, NaturePlast wishes to develop an in-house recycling process for these ranges of bioplastics. The project will therefore focus on biobased/partially biobased materials such as PLA or Bio-PP, filled with by-products from Normandy such as scallops or Flax shives.

Approach

  • Biocomposites production
  • Mechanical recycling with several grinding phases
  • Assessing the impact of treatment on properties
  • Improved properties following recycling.
