Objectives
The WOW! project aims to promote a circular approach by aligning supply and demand for cellulose, lipids and bioplastics (PHAs) made from wastewater.
The following activities are part of the project:
- Identification of high-potential value chains for raw materials derived from wastewater.
- Development of a decision-support tool to guide wastewater treatment plants in their transition to a circular economy approach.
- Construction and commissioning of three WOW! production pilots to optimize and implement innovative recovery and recycling techniques.
- Creation of bioproducts from wastewater, such as bioplastics, biofuels and charcoal for agricultural use.
- Creation ofroadmaps for political action at national and European level.

Natureplast intervention
NaturePlast is in charge of carrying out a state-of-the-art study on PHAs, as well as a market study on potential outlets for PHA-based bioplastics.
NaturePlast is also in charge of R&D for the formulation and production of compounds based on the PHAs produced by the project pilot. Thanks to its expertise and dedicated equipment, it is able to process and characterize PHAs obtained from wastewater.
